Youtube star turned boxer, Jake Paul, believes an impressive performance against Nate Diaz will generate attention from UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

Paul (6-1, 4 KOs) will face Diaz, who went 1-1 with McGregor in the UFC, in a boxing match on August 5 in Dallas, Texas.

The bout will be the first for Paul since suffering an eight round decision loss to unbeaten light heavyweight prospect Tommy Fury back in February.

Paul has a history of beating former UFC fighters in the boxing ring - with victories over Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren.

Next year, Paul will test his skills in mixed martial arts. Earlier this year, he signed an agreement with MMA promotion PFL.

However, he believes there are still plenty of opportunities in boxing.

"As far as my personal career, there's so many fighters. We have offers out to Fury [for the rematch], we've been trying to do the KSI negotiations for years. But when I knock out Diaz, I think McGregor's going to see me, want a payday, and come and get knocked out," Paul told Talk Sport.

And he's willing to face McGregor in boxing or MMA.

"Either one," Paul said. "We can fight in the PFL smart cage, whatever it is. I told everybody that I would fight Conor in any form of fight because he, in my opinion, is that shot.

"I'll do MMA, I'm not afraid to step in there. I've wanted to do that my whole career. I'm a wrestler, I've got a wrestling background, so all I'd have to learn is some jiu-jitsu and some kicks, which seems pretty easy to me."

A fight between Paul and McGregor is highly unlikely.

McGregor is under a binding contract with the UFC, who almost never allow their fighters to compete in events they don't control.

Additionally, Paul and UFC President Dana White have been feuding for several years.

McGregor, who lost three of his last four appearances in the cage, has not fought in the UFC in two years.
