Jair ‘Kaiser’ Valtierra enjoyed a power surge in his latest win.

The 19-year-old lightweight prospect overwhelmed countryman Emanuel ‘Pollo’ Lopez in a 4th round knockout win Friday evening at Auditorio Blackberry in Mexico City. A straight right hand caused a delayed reaction knockdownfo for the full ten count in their Boxeo Telemundo main event.

Action was all one way in favor of Valtierra, who was relentless with his double left hook in the opening round. Lopez didn’t have any response for the mode of attack other than to ride out the storm as Valtierra continued to come forward in search of an early knockout.

Valtierra settled into a more traditional boxing approach in round two. Lopez offered occasional right hand counters, though nothing of substance or to make his opponent slow down his attack. Valiterra put in good work to the body, landing right hands downstairs before coming back up top with left hooks.

Lopez was already out of answers by round four. The veteran journeyman from Chiapas, Mexico—who hadn’t fought since Sept. 2019—did his best to defend against the incoming but was unable to keep Valtierra at bay.

Valtierra walked down his elder countryman, connecting with a final right hand upstairs to produce the bout’s lone knockdown. Lopez turned away before falling to a knee, initially trying to rise to his feet before dropping back down to the canvas where he remained until he was counted out and the fight waved off just as the bell was due to sound at the end of round four.

Valtierra improves to 15-0 (8KOs), picking up his first knockout win since Sept. 2019. Four straight distance wins have followed, including an eight round decision in the last Telemundo show to air in Mexico which came last March just prior to the pandemic.

Lopez falls to (30-13-1, 14KOs), having now suffered three straight losses and seven in his last 10 fights.

In undercard action, Jonathan Alexis Ramirez stopped and dropped Jose Carrillo in the 4th round of an entertaining junior lightweight battle.

Ramirez is a rare breed as a 6’0” southpaw hovering between 126-135 pounds, though prefers to stand and trade rather than put his height and reach advantage to use. It made for a fun scrap with Carrillo (3-3-1, 3KOs), who overcame a rough opening round to connect with several right hands in rounds two and three.

The fight took a brutal turn in round four, when Ramirez (5-2-1, 3KOs) found an opening and never relinquished his lead. Carrillo was battered and rocked by a combination before a left hand put him down for the bout’s lone knockdown, at which point the referee immediately waved off the contest.

Axel Rai Miranda enjoyed a brief yet explosive pro debut in a 1st round knockout of Jesus Gael Tampa. Miranda (1-0, 1KO) sent Tampa to the canvas within the first 20 seconds of their lightweight bout, then again mere seconds later with the latter sequence prompting an immediate stoppage.
