The super middleweight who wants to challenge Canelo Alvarez next and the 168-pound contender who lost his last fight to Alvarez made weight Friday for their own showdown Saturday night.

Jaime Munguia got on the Arizona Boxing & MMA Commission’s scale at 167.8 pounds for their 12-round main event at Footprint Center in Phoenix. His opponent, British southpaw John Ryder, came in at exactly the same weight, 167.8 pounds.

DAZN will stream Munguia-Ryder as the main event of a five-fight stream scheduled to start at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT).

Most sportsbooks list Tijuana’s Munguia (42-0, 33 KOs) as a 3-1 favorite to defeat London’s Ryder (32-6, 18 KOs), who lost a 12-round unanimous decision to Alvarez last May 6 at Akron Stadium in Zapopan, Mexico. Munguia will fight for the first time since his action-packed 12-round, unanimous-decision victory over Ukraine’s Sergiy Derevyanchenko (14-5, 10 KOs) last June 10 at Toyota Arena in Ontario, California.

Munguia-Derevyanchenko was voted “Fight of the Year” by BoxingScene.com for 2023.
