Former two division world champion Marcos "Chino" Maidana did not have a good start in his new boxing role as a promoter.

Maidana was staging his first card, since retiring from the sport several years ago after back to back decision losses to Floyd Mayweather.

The former welterweight and super lightweight champion watched from the corner as his younger brother, Fabian "TNT" Maidana, who was headlining the show, lost a ten round unanimous decision to tough Venezuelan fighter Jaider Parra in a welterweight bout, which took place at the Islas Malvinas de Mar del Mar Silver.

After the 10 rounds of action, the judges saw Parra as the clear winner with a unanimous decision

The contest was scored on a half-point system, with tallies of 98.5-94, 98-94.5 and 97.5-95.5 for the veteran.

Maidana, who aspired to become a world champion in the near future, did not have a good night. He never put his adversary in danger. And, at times, things went wrong. An injury happened in the fifth round, when a punch from the Venezuelan opened a wound above Maidana's right eye and plunged him into confusion.

Maidana (16-1, 12 KOs) tried his best to change the tide. However, that saving blow did not come, so he lost his undefeated record to a much more experienced boxer (36 years).

El Chino approached his brother's corner during two breaks. First, before the seventh round, in which then TNT started with a promising onslaught but quickly faded.

Afterwards, Marcos' encouragement emboldened Fabián for the tenth round: he cornered Parra and began to really let his hands go, although  he ran out of time to change the result.
