Isaiah Steen has a new opponent and has been elevated into a “ShoBox: The New Generation” main event that’ll be televised October 21 from Atlantic City, New Jersey.

BoxingScene.com has learned Cleveland’s Steen (16-0, 12 KOs) has agreed to face Sena Agbeko (26-2, 21 KOs) in a 10-round fight that night at Bally’s Grand Ballroom. The unbeaten super middleweight prospect was supposed to encounter Elvis Figueroa (11-0, 7 KOs) in an eight-round “ShoBox” co-feature October 21, but the change occurred when Showtime’s original main event, a 10-round light heavyweight bout between Russia’s Ali Izmailov (9-0, 6 KOs) and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Radivoje “Hot Rod” Kalajdzic (27-2, 19 KOs), was canceled because Izmailov contracted COVID-19 during training camp and withdrew.

What was supposed to be the opener of this three-bout broadcast – an eight-round super middleweight match in which New Orleans’ Sean Hemphill (14-0, 8 KOs) will face David Stevens (11-0, 8 KOs), of Reading, Pennsylvania – is now the co-feature. The telecast will now begin with another eight-rounder – Marquis Taylor (12-1-2, 1 KO), a junior middleweight from Galena Park, Texas, against Detroit’s Marlon Harrington (8-0, 7 KOs).

The 26-year-old Steen will end a 14-month layoff when he faces the hard-hitting Agbeko. Steen hasn’t boxed since his 10-round, unanimous-decision victory over Kalvin Henderson 14 months ago in a “ShoBox” main event.

Steen defeated a then-unbeaten Henderson (15-2-1, 11 KOs), of Fayetteville, Arkansas, by scores of 97-93, 97-93 and 96-94 in July 2021 at Heartland Events Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.

The 30-year-old Agbeko, a native of Ghana who resides in Nashville, Tennessee, has won three straight fights since Russian super middleweight contender Vladimir Shishkin (13-0, 8 KOs) soundly defeated him on points in February 2021 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Shishkin’s win against Agbeko was televised as part of the “ShoBox” series as well.
