To whet your whistle for the Floyd vs. Oscar mega-fight, please allow me to suggest you attend the Friday Night fights in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania.  Joey Eye Boxing and Nedal Boxing have assembled an “Italian Fight Night” on Friday night with Chucky “the Italian Assassin” Cavallo and Dannon Svab on top. Cavallo is 14-0 and his most recent fight can be seen on FightingCity.com and his rabid fan base can be heard on the internet broadcast.  Cavallo continues to learn, continues to win and his fans are among the best in the Philadelphia area.  Svab is traveling from Ohio and will seek to get past Cavallo’s jab to rumble inside.   Fairless Hills is located along the northern Philadelphia border.  The bouts will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles at 920 Trenton Road. Cavallo and Svab (5-2-1) are scheduled for 8-rounds.

The co-main event will pit Richard Stewart (half-Italian) vs. William Gill in an 8-round light heavyweight battle.  Gill is lanky and rangy and Stewart is thick and always coming forward.  This fight promises to be interesting, especially over 8-rounds.  Will Gill be able to outreach the on rushing Stewart who be making an effort to shine in the Italian-night spot light?  You’ll have to be there to see for yourself.  This is the kind of match-up that Joey Eye Boxing could be famous for one day.  A Joey Eye Boxing card almost always features a slugfest, a solid, artful boxing match and plenty of a “what-is-next” atmosphere.   Nedal Boxing has worked with some fine fighters, such as Terrance Cauthen, Nurhan Suleyman and Omar Sheika, so we know he’s not afraid to put real fights in the ring.

That aforementioned slugfest will likely come in the 6-round middleweight “All-Italian” special feature between Joe Christy and Abraham Bruno.   Christy has stolen the show more than once in Philadelphia’s venues, while Bruno has faced Cory Spinks and Freddie Curiel.  If they don’t knock each other out during the introductions, this will be the one you’ll scold your unfortunate, lazy ‘stay-at-home’ friends about the next day, unless you get them there with you.

Baby Jack Burris has trained with Joey Eye since his amateur days.  The light heavyweight lost his 2nd pro fight in 2005 and is returning after evaluating, and finding, his fighting spirit.  Burris and Mike Ciccone are both Italian Light-Heavyweights looking for wins and are scheduled for raw, but entertaining 4 rounds.

Terrance Miller has been seen on Joey Eye Boxing cards in the past and returns on Friday after fighting at Madison Square Garden in 2006.  Miller will go 6 or less with William Santiago.  Desire will play the part in this one because the winner will go over .500 as both fighters currently have even records.

If there is one fight card you should buy tickets for in May, this is the one!   It’ll give you a little of everything.   No truth to the rumor about ‘Don’ Michael Corrleone as a referee though.  Here is how to get tickets, directions and information; call 267-304-9399, 609-209-5642 or Center Stage Tickets at 1 800-677-8499.  Prices range from $40 to $75.  The gladiators will be starting at 8pm, so wear your Italian colors, get there early and meet your seat neighbors.  Maybe you can pry away their family wine or gravy secrets.  Again, the Fraternal Order of Eagles is at 920 Trenton Road in Fairless Hills, PA.
