Former two division champion Israel "Magnifico" Vazquez (44-5, 32KOs) recently appeared on BoxingScene.com's oficial audio show, The Boxing Lab. Vazquez has been inactive since losing to his rival Rafael Marquez via 3rd round knockout in May of 2010 in their 4th meeting inside of the square circle.

After winning two of of his first three grueling battles with Marquez, Vazquez took 19 months off before he faced the unheralded Angel Antonio Priolo in a tuneup prior to his 4th meeting with Marquez. Vazquez wasn't sharp in his 9th round TKO victory over Priolo. In hindsight he feels that he should have taken a longer break between the Priolo fight and his 4th encounter with Marquez.  Vazquez also revealed that he plans to return to the ring next year.

"I am looking to fight again. I am taking a good rest.  I should have taken a longer break after I fought the Colombian (Priolo) instead of going straight to Rafa," Vazquez told The Boxing Lab.

Vazquez doesn't have a time table on his ring return other than it will take place next year. The fighter o Mexican descent recently opened a boxing gym in California and is looking to become a trainer. Before he becomes a full time trainer he wants to erase the taste of his last fight, the knockout loss to Marquez.

"I don't want to go out how I went out against Rafa," stated Vazquez.  "I am taking a rest to recover and heal up but I plan to return to the ring next year."
