" I know I can knock Jeremy Williams out"

Undefeated heavyweight contender "Nigerian Nightmare" Samuel Peter now residing in Las Vegas with a professional record of (20-0) 17KO's will be taking on former world title challenger Jeremy Williams now (41-4-1)  with 36KO's for the vacant North American Boxing Federation (NABF) heavyweight championship on December 4, at the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas. The event will be televised live on Showtime.

Peter's last fight was in August against Jovo Pudar who he defeated by 10 rounds decesion. Here's what the heavyweight contender had to say about the Vatali Klitschko, Lamon Brewster, Chris Byrd, John Ruiz and his upcoming battle with Jeremy Williams.......

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): What was your amateur record?

Peter: I had 19 wins and 1 loss

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): What titles did you win as amateur?

Peter: I was the national champion, African zone 3 champion. I represented my Country Nigeria in the 2000 Olympics

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): You happen to know former world champion Hogan Bassey, who comes from the same Akwa Ibom, State as you in Nigeria. What kind of words did you receive from him?

Peter: Hogan Bassey was a very nice man. He told me that I was going to be a world champion someday and that is what I'm working had on, he really inspired me because he was a world too. I was in the olympic camp with Duncan Dokiwari in Ibadan, Nigeria then and I was his sparring before before he went to olympics 1996. I prepared Dokiwari for that olympics.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): You fought Friday Ahuananya in the amateurd and beat him. What was that like?

Peter: Yes, I beat him to win the national title before he left for USA. I took the title from him before he came here.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): When was the first time you stepped inside a ring as amateur?

Peter: The first time was in 1992, I was playing soccer in school then some Boxers came to my school for training so I went there and liked what was going on. I was told to give it a try and I tries it and like it so I just kept training and got good at it.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): How long have you been training for your fight with Jeremy Williams?

Peter: I have been training for 6 weeks now.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): What's your impression of Jeremy Williams who you're fight for the NABF heavyweight championship?

Peter: He's a good fighter but I'm ready to go full 12 rounds but I don't think he'll last that long anyway. I'm ready to go on top non of them can stop me. He may say that I'm overrated but he'll find out when we step into the ring. I must thank Showtime for giving me this opportunity and I'm going to take advantage of it. It's going to be an exciting fight.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): What do you remember about your first professional fight?

Peter: It was an exciting fight for me I Knocked him out. I had just came out of the Olympics. I just knocked him out.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): What can you tell us about your Olympics participation 2000?

Peter: It was great experience for me. I trained about a month for Olympics, I was training inside Nigeria and outside .

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): What titles did you win as amateur?

Peter: I was a national champion in my Country, Nigeria. I was awarded Best Boxer of the year in 1996. I fought Audley Harrison in quarter finals in Beligum before Olympics 2000. I was the African zone 3 champion and more. I had a lot of fights in Europe and other parts of the world so I got a lot of exposure. I was sponsored by International Olympic Committee (IOC) which enabled me to move around the world.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): How did you become a member of IOC?

Peter: I had a fight in Ghana one time and an IOC representative was ringside and observed me

then he just choose me to become a member of the IOC.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): Tell us about your fight with Charles Shuford?

Peter: It was a great fight for me and I put in my best in that fight because many thought I couldn't go 10 rounds because I was knocking everybody out quick.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): Describe your fight with Jovo Pudar?.

Peter: That was another fight I hade to prove the world that I can go to the distance. That fight opened my lungs and I went 10 rounds with him.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): What's your impression of all the heavyweight champions? Klitschko, Brewster, Byrd and Ruiz?

Peter: There are all good champions but no one can be a champion forever. If I had to meet them in the ring I'll do whatever it takes to beat them just like I have been doing.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): What should boxing fans expect from you on December 4 when you meet Jeremy Williams?

Peter: The fans should expect an exciting and great fight from me, I know I can knock him out. Let him talk all the junk, we shall see in the ring.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): Did your parents support you when you first started Boxing?

Peter: My father supported me but my mother didn't want me to Box. In fact, my mother just died 4 month ago. I'll dedicate this December 4 fight to her.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene): You have two children know, a boy and a girl. What are their names and ages?

Peter: My daughter Precious is 11 months old and my son, Wisedom is 10 weeks old.

Ike Enwereuzor (BoxingScene), thank you and the boxing fans for your support but I have to go now to the gym.
