Two weeks ago in Moscow, Russia - World of Boxing staged a major event that had plenty of twists and turns. Two of the biggest outcomes involved world titles under the International Boxing Federation (IBF).

In the main event, a battle of hard-punching Russian cruiserweights saw Murat Gassiev win a twelve round split decision over veteran Denis Lebedev to capture the IBF world title.

Gassiev was the mandatory challenger under the IBF. Lebedev wants a rematch, which Gassiev is willing to entertain under the right conditions. Lebedev did not stake his WBA title in the fight, which allowed him to leave the ring as a reigning world champion.

The IBF has no problem with approving a rematch, but there has been no application for one.

"Gassiev will have to make a mandatory defense of the belt within nine months from the date of the fight [with Lebedev]. Naturally, the name of the opponent is not yet known. Regarding a rematch with Lebedev, that has not been requested as of yet. Once it is, then the IBF will allow this to happen," stated a representative for the sanctioning body.

Also on that card was one of the biggest upsets of the year. Unknown Julius Indongo of Namibia pulled off a brutal one-punch first round knockout of heavily favored IBF/IBO junior welterweight champion Eduard Troyanovsky

"The IBF will allow Troyanovsky to have an immediate rematch with Indongo, but the organization has not yet received the relevant request," added the rep.

World of Boxing promoter Andrey Ryabinsky wants Troyanovsky to get that rematch, but also said the aging boxer should consider the possibility of retirement in the aftermath of the second fight.
