Hughie Fury recorded his second win of the year as he claimed a unanimous decision over Mariusz Wach in a gruelling heavyweight ten-rounder on the Joshua-Pulev undercard at Wembley.

Wach gave it a go in the first two rounds, but Fury, who was hampered by a bad cut over his left eye from early on, kept the pressure on to win an ultimately comfortable decision.

Marcus McDonnell and Steve Gray scored it 100-90, while Phil Edwards had it 99-91 in a fight short on any highlights.

Wach did best in the first round, as Fury got his range, but when Fury tried to put some pressure on the big Pole in the second, but Wach fired back, catching him with an uppercut. Fury must have been rattled as he landed a blatant late shot after the bell sounded, which referee Bob Williams declined to warn him over.

Things quietened down in the third, but Fury started the fourth with a big right hand before whaling away at Wach. He didn’t manage to budge Wach, but Fury then emerged from a clinch with a big cut over his left eye and was led back to his corner for an inspection by the doctor, who allowed him back out.

There was another inspection at the start of the sixth, although Wach’s workrate dropped off considerably in the fifth and sixth, as Fury was able to box at his own pace.

At times the Englishman looked open, but Wach could only box in spurts and was slow to pull the trigger.

Fury tried to produce a burst in the tenth round, but he couldn’t shift the exhausted Wach.
