Former world champion and Golden Boy Promotions executive Bernard Hopkins is giving Olympic gold medal winner Luke Campbell a lot of credit for accepting a fight with unbeaten Ryan Garcia.

Golden Boy is promoting the Garcia vs. Campbell showdown, which takes place this coming Saturday in Dallas, Texas.

The WBC interim-lightweight title will be a stake - with the winner earning a mandatory crack at full champion Devin Haney.

Garcia, with a record of 20-0 and 17 wins by knockout, is a big favorite to win and regarded by many observers as a potential superstar in the sport.

Hopkins, who promotes Garcia, believes Campbell - who has a big edge in experience - will provide a very tough test for the up and coming talent.

“Campbell’s experience and willingness to take this fight marks him out as a real champion. I am excited by Campbell’s confidence, he is not coming here like somebody has done him a favor. He is serious. Ryan is going to have his hands full and he is going to have to figure it out in the heat of battle," Hopkins said to The Sun.

“Ryan knows how serious this fight is and this is not Campbell’s first rodeo, so he is going in there with experience and a lot of confidence.”

As previously reported, Campbell has spent hours studying Garcia's past performances. He's not overly impressed with the videos Garcia frequently posts on social media to show off his hand speed.

“He’s got a huge profile on social media. When you have that amount of followers, you have to keep them interested with stuff, videos. For me, I prefer to just live my life. It all looks good on video but there are plenty of kids out there who can hit the pads quickly but not look good in the ring. You can throw 1,000 uppercuts in five seconds on the pads but it’s not real. There’s no one in front of you trying to take your head off," Campbell said.
