Holly Lawson had her reasons why she decided to leave the sport of boxing almost a decade ago. Those reasons will come to light at a later date. Lawson is just glad to lace up the gloves and step back in the ring.

“I’m excited to be returning to the ring for sure,” Lawson told BoxingScene Friday night.

Lawson will face Deseree Jamison tonight at the Commerce Casino in Commerce, California, not far from her residence in Los Angeles. The four-round junior middleweight bout will take place on an All Star Boxing Promotions card.

The last time Lawson (5-2, 1 knockout) appeared in the ring was in September 2012, defeating Sarah Kahn by split-decision. She enters tonight’s fight having won her last four bouts.

During her hiatus from the ring, Lawson has worked with celebrities and actors in the Los Angeles area as a personal fitness coach. The 5’9” Lawson is often seen at fight cards in Southern California, whether they are significant or club shows.

Lawson is a native of Sechelt, British Columbia, Canada.

Jamison (1-0), who resides in Stone Mountain, Georgia, won her pro debut on April 10 of last year, defeating Nina Gallegos by unanimous decision.

In middleweight action, Raul Lizarraga (8-0, 8 KOs) of Murrieta, Georgia will square off against Argentina’s Luis Alberto Vera (11-20-2, 1 KO) in a six-round bout. Vera has lost seven of his last eight bouts, six by knockout.

Welterweight Cristian Camarena (7-0, 3 KOs) will face Ryan Picou (3-15-1) in a six-round bout. Camarena, who resides in nearby Pasadena, has stopped his last two opponents.

The card, which will begin at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT, will stream live on BXNG TV.
