Heavyweight Eugene Hill headlines the latest Savarese Boxing Promotions card on Saturday at the World Gym Arena in Texas City. Hill (33-1, 21 KOs) takes on Nicholas Guivas (12-4-2, 9 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round bout.

Hill, 38, has been waiting in the fringes of the heavyweight division throughout his 10-year career. With the exception of a 2008 victory on ESPN, Hill has built his record in obscurity mostly against journeymen with losing records. Guivas, by virtue of his winning record, represents one of Hill’s better opponents.

Hard-hitting Russian light heavyweight Medzhid Bektemirov (16-1, 12 KOs) returns from the first loss of his career, taking on Quinton Ranking (11-2-1, 8 KOs) in an eight-round bout. Bektemirov lost a split decision to Alexander Brand in December. Brand was rewarded with a high-profile bout against Andre Ward (which he lost last week). Bektemirov, on the hand, returns to the drawing board on local club shows until his next opportunity arises.

Also on the coming back from his first loss, middleweight Steed Woodall (10-1-1, 7 KOs) of England takes on Larry Smith (10-27-1, 7 KOs). In a December matchup between undefeated prospects, Woodall was stopped in the fourth round by Steve Rolls (13-0). Woodall has since rebounded with a stoppage victory over a 2-4 fighter.

In other fights:

Welterweight Craig Callaghan (12-1, 4 KOs) faces Marquis Hawthorne (4-2, 1 KO).

Light heavyweight Roberto Silva (8-1, 3 KOs) takes on Gevonte Davis (4-6-1, 1 KO).

Jamelson Bocachiea (1-0) fights Justin Henderson (0-3) in a welterweight bout.

And junior middleweight Robert Redmond Jr. (0-0-1) takes on Josh Jackson (debut).
