Hector Luis Garcia (13-0) is looking to close out his 2021 campaign with a spectacular performance on Saturday night against Isaac Avelar (17-3).  The bout takes place at The Armory In Minneapolis and will be part of the FS1 telecast that precedes the main FOX card that is headlined by David Morrell taking on Alantez Fox in a light heavyweight battle.

The 30-year-old represented his native Dominican Republic in the 2016 Olympics and is now looking to move up to contender status in the professional ranks.

“I had a very strong camp working on the technical aspects of the fight with my great teacher Ismael Salas and the physical conditioning aspect with Bob Santos,” Garcia explained.

Garcia sparred several top fighters in preparation for what will be the biggest fight of his career thus far. He believes that experience will lead him to victory on Saturday night.

“For Avelar to accept a fight with me, that tells you he has aspirations to go far in the sport and that he thinks beating me will help him get there,” said Garcia. “We made sure camp was great. I sparred Rolly (Romero), Devin Haney, Robeisy Ramirez and Emiliano Beats to name a few guys I sparred.”

If everything goes well for Garcia, he hopes to get fast tracked for a world title.

He is willing to face any featherweight champion but is especially interested in facing newly crowned IBF champion Kiko Martinez. The 35-year-old Spaniard pulled off a major upset last month when he stopped Kid Galahad who was attempting to make the first defense of his title.

“I would love to face any of them. I especially want to put myself in position to where I can fight Martinez for his title,” Garcia told BoxingScene.com.
