Eddie Hearn, promoter for heavyweight contender Anthony Joshua, says there is no chance that his boxer will step aside from a planned rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

Back in September, Usyk outboxed Joshua over twelve rounds to capture the WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA titles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In the aftermath, Joshua exercised an immediate rematch clash - with the second fight targeted for the first quarter of 2022.

However, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury would like Joshua to step aside in order to allow a full division unification with Fury.

In a recent interview, Joshua mentioned that he might be wiling to step aside - “if it made sense for business”.

But, Hearn indicates that there is no possibility of that happening, with Joshua 100% moving forward with the second fight.

"I don’t think that’s a consideration,” Hearn told IFL TV when asked about Joshua’s comments. “I think at some point if an offer was presented to someone that would be a situation where it would be difficult to not discuss Joshua stepping aside.

"At the moment, the only focus is on the rematch. Anthony Joshua wants to fight Oleksandr Usyk. Until that is presented to him, and it hasn’t been presented to him in terms of stepping aside, that’s all the focus is. I haven’t seen the interview, but speaking to him, all he wants to do is rematch Oleksandr Usyk."

Fury saw action in October, when he overcame two knockdowns to score a sensation knockout of Deontay Wilder in the eleventh round of their trilogy fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The next fight for the 'Gypsy King' will likely take place in the early part of 2022 - with dates in late February and early March being explored.
