Eddie Hearn gathered the press together earlier today to formally announce the details of Matchroom’s show at Leeds’s First Direct Arena on July 30.

The card is headlined by local boy Josh Warrington (23-0,4 KO), he meets Dublin’s Patrick Hyland (31-2, 15 early) in a defence of his WBC International featherweight belt.

Huddersfield’s Tyrone Nurse (33-2-1, 7 stoppages) is also in action, defending his British light-welterweight title against Tommy Coyle (22-3, 10 Kos), with heavyweight undercard support in the form of Dillian Whyte (17-1, 14 KO).

As previously reported, Luke Campbell (13-1, 11 early) meets Argenis Mendez (23-4-1, 12 stoppages); Hearn revealed that the WBC Silver lightweight title will be on the line for that one.

Josh Wale (20-8-2, 11 KOs) has been handed the uneviable task of halting the progress of Gamal Yafai (9-0, 4 early) when challenging for the Birmingham-based boxer’s Commonwealth Super bantamweight belt.

Ryan Burnett (13-0, 9 KOs), Sam Eggington 17-3, 9 KOs), Frankie Gavin (22-2, 13 early) and Tommy Martin (13-1, 5 KOs) are also on the bill.

“All fighters want to get out before the summer—the Leeds fans are in for a treat,” stated Hearn when officially announcing the show.

“The main event is a cracker.  Warrington against Hyland is a fight we’ve tried to make for a while.  Nurse against Coyle has really captured the imagination of everyone in the boxing trade.”

He added: “And we have Ryan Burnett, who is one of the standout talents in British and world boxing.  Dillian Whyte is one of the top Heavyweights in British boxing.  Dillian is very difficult to match.”

“I’m excited for the next few fights,” said Burnett, who hopes to add another ‘W’ to his record as he bids to become a title contender.  “I’m happy to be named alongside [Stuart] Hall and [Lee] Haskins—I need to stand up to the mark.”

“My style will gel with Gamal Yafai and we will have a war,” declared Wale.  “I’ve never been put down as an amateur or pro.”

Whyte was criticised in the wake of his sixth-round KO win over Ivica Bacurin last month, but the heavyweight contender believes the performance was better than he initially thought.  He said: “After watching the Bacurin fight back, I performed better than I thought.”

“David Allen, let’s get it on, stop talking,” he added, issuing a challenge to his Doncaster-based rival.  “Tell Stefy Bull to make a call to Allen and get it made for this card.”

“The Leeds fans love a good tear up and I can knock people out with either hand,” stated Whyte.  “I want to fight all over the country.”

Hull’s Coyle lost to city rival Luke Campbell last summer; however, he bounced back with a six-round decision win over Reynaldo Mora in May and believes he can upset Nurse.  “I’d be the first man to win a British title from Hull and that would be huge for me,” he said.

“Tyrone is a great fighter, very cute.  I boxed Tyrone 10 years ago as an amateur and I was the same weight.  I’m a big boy now so the 5lbs will make a big difference.”

“It will be a great fight against Tommy,” predicted Nurse.  “I’m enjoying being on Sky regularly.  Tommy is first and foremost before bigger tests.  Styles have gelled in recent fights and I do like a war.”

Hyland has mixed with Gary Russell (L KO 2) and expects a great atmosphere come the first bell.  “I’ve got a lot of fans coming over for this,” he revealed.  “I’m looking forward to fighting the hometown king.  The atmosphere in America isn’t the same as UK.  Gary Russell was very fast, speed kills and I’ve moved on.

“Josh has beaten everyone in-front of him.  I’m looking to come over and ruin the Elland Road dream.  I think me and Josh will stand toe to toe to give the fans a treat.”

“I’ve got a lot of respect for Pajo,” added Warrington.  “He’s a top fighter, he’ll bring a few over and it will be electric.  I’m excited for the whole show. Wale-Gamal will be exciting.  Dillian Whyte scares me a bit, but I’m looking forward to him.  Talks of fighting at Elland Road fell through, so I’m looking forward to getting in there and letting off some steam.
