David Haye continued his comeback without breaking into a sweat.

The Bermondsey heavyweight advanced to 28-2 (26 KOs), ending the challenge of previously undefeated Arnold Gjergjaj at London’s O2 Arena, exclusively live on UKTV channel Dave.

Haye is on an assault towards the world title once more and is a step closer after a halt was called to the action of the Swiss-based puncher after just two minutes and 35 seconds.

A fight with Shannon Briggs, the former WBO heavyweight world champion who returned to the ring with a one-round stoppage tonight, looks on the cards for Haye next, but the end game for the ‘Hayemaker’ will undoubtedly be an all-British showdown with either IBF king Anthony Joshua or unified champ Tyson Fury.

“Next up for me is Briggs,” said Haye. “I told him if he boxed on my undercard and beat somebody that me and him would fight in September.

“We’re on a collision course and we’ll fight in September.

“Let’s go, chump.”

Gjergjaj walked to the ring with a record of 29-0 (21 KOs) but offered next to nothing after being knocked down in the opening 40 seconds.

He got up, to his credit, and attempted to fight back, but Haye knocked him down again, right at the end of the opener.

However, it wasn’t counted as a knockdown by referee Terry O’Connor.

But that didn’t matter. ‘The Cobra’ was down twice in the second round before O’Connor waved off the clash and ensured Haye got another victory.

“The Cobra had the second longest unbeaten run in world boxing,” said Haye.

“It's not my problem I punch as hard as I do. My shoulder feels beautiful, better than it ever did before.

“The Cobra can attest to the fact my shoulder's back on form.

“Believe me, I’ll get the heavyweight title again and I’ll bring it back to South London, but only after I’ve been back here [at the O2 Arena] to knockout Shannon Briggs in September.”
