David Haye (27-2, 25 KOs) hit the scales at 224lbs earlier today ahead of tomorrow night’s showdown against Switzerland's Arnold Gjergjaj (29-0, 21 stoppages) at London’s O2 Arena; the visitor scaled 237lbs.

Haye believes he will get some much-needed rounds under his belt to make up for the fact that he iced Mark de Mori in January in the first of his comeback fights.

Indeed, the “Hayemaker” has told Sky Sports that he expects a totally different type of night due to his opponent’s unbeaten record and ambition.  “I need to be at my best,” stated Haye.

“I can't afford to turn up here and assume that because I've competed at a higher level, it'll be enough.  I've had two minutes of ring action in four years which isn't ideal but I'm ready to do what needs to be done.  I want a 10-round fight and I want to really have to figure out some puzzles in there and dig deep.  I haven't had that for a long time and I'm looking forward to putting on a big spectacle.

“In the gym, it feels like I'm better than I was many years ago but you can only tell when the bell goes and I'm looking forward to seeing what I've got against an unbeaten, hungry young fighter.  It's a must-win fight for me.”

The former cruiserweight champion and WBA heavyweight titlist has already lined up his next outing, he meets Shannon Briggs in the fall, as he sets about making up for lost time.  The 35-year-old contender is also hopes to line up a lucrative all-London showdown with IBF holder Anthony Joshua in 2017.
