David Haye is said to have made a seven-figure sum from his last fight.

The former world heavyweight champion is already among Britain’s top-earning sportsman, with reported career earnings of around £25million, and he is believed to have picked up a further £1million on Saturday.

Haye took less than two rounds to outclass former undefeated man Arnold Gjergjaj at London’s O2 Arena, exclusively live on UKTV channel Dave.

And the 35-year-old, who made his long-awaited comeback to the ring in January, when he knocked out the Australian Mark de Mori in impressive fashion, is expected to earn a similar figure when he comes to the Greenwich ring once more.

He is scheduled to take on another ex-world champion, Shannon Briggs, who won on the ‘Haye Day’ undercard, in September.

Only 140 seconds had passed in Briggs’ first fight since last autumn before a halt was called to his clash against late stand-in Emilio Ezequiel Zarate of Argentina.

Haye pockets a greater proportion of the gate receipts than the average fighter due to being self-promoted and is believed to have walked away with about £500,000 in gate receipts alone from his second fight in four months.

But his long-term ambition is to pick up the world heavyweight title again and the most straightforward way to that goal would be a money-spinning showdown with either Anthony Joshua, the division’s IBF king, or the undisputed world titlist Tyson Fury, with whom Haye has previously had two fight dates that have fallen out of bed due to the Bermondsey man suffering injury.

A fight with either Joshua or Fury could see Haye match or even better his career-high payday of £10million, which he pocketed for facing Wladimir Klitschko in 2011.
