Former two division world champion David Haye believes that he would have beaten Tyson Fury had their fight taken place back in 2013.

The fight was pushed back, twice.

Haye suffered a cut in sparring to force the contest to be postponed. It was pushed back a second time after Haye sustained a shoulder injury.

After the second postponement, Fury moved forward in another direction and the contest never took place.

Haye, who went through shoulder surgery, was inactive until 2016.

Haye feels that his physical attributes would have beaten Fury, who the veteran believes was too inexperienced at the time.

"Using my speed, using my punch power. Back then in 2013, I believe it was, Tyson Fury wasn't the fighter he is today. He was very young, he was very inexperienced. He wasn't as teak tough as he is now," Haye told Sky Sports.

"He hadn't been through the trials and tribulations that's made him the man and fighter he is today. It would have been the perfect bit of matchmaking on my fight, if I was able to get him. A baby, in boxing terms. He had been heavily knocked down by a non-punching cruiserweight in Steve Cunningham, so it was a perfect storm for me, but the fight didn't happen. I got a cut before the fight and it never took place."

In 2015, Fury had his career-defining win when he traveled to Germany and won a twelve round decision over Wladimir Klitschko to capture the IBF, WBA, WBO, IBO heavyweight crown.

Fast-forward to February of 2020, Fury stopped Deontay Wilder in seven rounds to win the WBC world title.

Now Fury is heading in the direction of a full division unification with Anthony Joshua in 2021.
