Former two division champion Ricky Hatton is backing Olympic silver medal winner Joe Joyce to be a big problem for heavyweight world champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

Joyce's size, chin and stamina are attributes that have led him to a lot of success - with his biggest career win taking place last year when he stopped dangerous puncher Daniel Dubois.

In his most recent fight, Joyce stopped world title challenger Carlos Takam.

At the moment Joyce is top rated contender under the WBO.

Later this month, he plans to sit ringside for Joshua's defense of the WBO, IBF, WBA, IBO titles against mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk.

Joyce hopes to face the winner of that bout in 2022.

Hatton has a lot of respect for the ability and accomplishments of Joyce.

“He’s had 13 fights and he’s [been] British, Commonwealth and European champion. There isn’t much he hasn’t done and I think he surprised a lot of people with what he did against Daniel Dubois," Hatton told Metro.

“His performance was superb, he’s a nightmare for anyone with that style and that left jab of his. The amount of damage he does when he throws them is huge. Also, his punch resistance is freakish, the shots seem to just bounce off him. We have to give Joe the credit he deserves.

“He will give Joshua and Tyson a load of problems and because of his long amateur spell that is maybe why he has to get a move on a little bit. He was a little later in years in turning pro but in fairness he’s not messed about. The quality of opposition he has fought has been very good. He’s not playing games. You have to say fair play to him.”
