MATTHEW HATTON would love to be the man who finally punches Bradford braggart Junior Witter into retirement.

Witter spent years begging two weight world champion Ricky Hatton to fight him, but has now switched his attention to ‘The Hitman’s’ younger brother Matthew.

Cheeky Witter has claimed a fight against ‘Magic’ Matthew would be an “easy stepping stone” back to the top.

Hatton has bigger things  than Witter to worry about right now, preparing for his European welterweight title defence against unbeaten Swiss star Roberto Belge at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium on Friday November 26.

And Matthew has been supported  by older brother Ricky  a regular visitor to the gym offering his support and encouragement at training sessions.

Hatton, 29, said: “There is not a lot for me to gain by fighting Witter, but he has mouthed off about the Hatton family for years so if that fight came off I certainly wouldn’t refuse it.

“My heart wants to fight him, but my head says that I am in a good position for a world title fight. So why take the risk?

“Sometimes my hearts does rule my head and I would love to shut that big mouth of his.

“Witter has had a lot to say for himself for a number of years and if he is coming to the end I would love to be the man who ends his career.”

And Matthew believes the former WBC light-welterweight champion will get a shock when he launches his 147lb career.

He warned “Witter is moving up to a division that is hot domestically and on the world scene at the moment.”

On the same bill, Bury’s impressive WBA international champion Scott Quigg will be bidding for his 21st consecutive win, but faces good Frenchman Daniel Kodjo Sassou – his toughest opponent to date.

Commonwealth middleweight champion Martin Murray is also in title action against a selected opponent.

The rest of the undercard features some of Hatton Promotions talented prospects including Beijing Olympian Joe Murray, heavyweight giant Richard Towers, Matty Askin, Adam Etches and Tasif Khan.
