Humo Arena, Tashkent - Hasanboy Dusmatov made the most of his first career fight home.

The 2016 Gold medalist and Val Barker trophy recipient as the top boxer in the Rio Olympics had his way in a 2nd round knockout of Tanzania's Muhsin Kizoto. Dusmatov floored Kizoto three times in forcing the stoppage at 2:02 of round two in their DAZN-streamed opener Saturday at Humo Arena in Tashkent, Ukraine.

Dusmatov set the tone in the opening round. The 27-year-old from Andijan, Uzbekistan couldn't miss with his left hand, with Kizoto unable to provide a response. The visiting boxer was on the canvas in the first minute of the fight, beating the count and immediately resorting to survival tactics in his best effort to slow down the onslaught.

It appeared to work at first glance, as Kizoto made it to the bell and came out confident to begin round two. So, too, did Dusmatov who scored the second knockdown of the bout courtesy of another left hand.

Kizoto (11-3, 5KOs) bravely continued fighting but was soon down again, this time courtesy of a pair of hooks from Dusmatov. The 21-year-old Tanzanian once again beat the count but found himself immediately under attack before being rescued by referee Sergey Litunov.

Dusmatov improves to 3-0 (3KOs) with the win, picking up the WBA International junior flyweight title in the process.

Saturday marked a long overdue homecoming for Dusmatov, having fought in three different countries in as many pro fights. Dusmatov turned pro in Nov. 2019 in Mexico, sitting out for much of the pandemic before resurfacing last December in Moscow. His young pro career has lasted less than five total rounds.

The bout served in supporting capacity to unified WBA/IBF junior featherweight champion Murodjon 'MJ' Akhmadaliev (8-0, 6KOs) in a mandatory title defense versus Japan's Ryosuke Iwasa (27-3, 17KOs).
