Harold Calderon (27-0) is hoping to have a big year in 2023.

The undefeated welterweight only fought once in 2022, stopping Ezequiel Victor Fernandez in three rounds in September.

The lack of activity has frustrated Calderon, who explained that he has had multiple fights fall apart at the last minute.

“I've agreed to several big fights since my last performance where I handed out a 3rd round knockout only to have fighters and their management team withdraw at the last second,” said Calderon.

“I know this is going to be my breakout year. I'm remaining active in the gym, and keeping my fans and supporters updated throughout the process. I'm aiming for a late February or early March return to the ring.”

The 35-year-old southpaw is based in Florida and is hoping to sign with a major promoter in the near future.

He said that he is ready to take on any and all fighters with the goal to get a shot at title.

“I’m looking for a promoter with experience and relationships that can assist with expanding my brand worldwide. My body of work speaks for itself. I'm ready to contend for a world title within my next one or two fights. I’m already highly ranked and my popularity is constantly growing,” Calderon told BoxingScene.com

“I need a machine that can match my drive and work ethic. I’m a superstar and it’s time for the world to know.”

Calderon is focused on his own career but is also very cognizant of what is going on inside of the welterweight division.

A fight for the undisputed championship at welterweight was nearly agreed to between Errol Spence and Terence Crawford before both men ended up taking different fights. Talks for a fight later in the year are supposed to resume in the near future.

If the highly anticipated fight does happen, Calderon sees it as a 50-50 proposition

“I see Spence versus Crawford going either way. Both fighters are talented, and possess elite skills. They have the tools to beat each other on any given night.

“Whoever steps in the ring with the best game plan and makes the proper adjustments during the fight will win. At the end of the day they need to hurry up and fight so they can let go of my belts. I know both of them will be moving up to 154,” Calderon stated.
