Devin Haney is far from done with what he plans to accomplish in the sport.

The undefeated and undisputed lightweight champion once again showed why he’s among the best in the world following a repeat win over former unified champ George Kambosos Jr. Haney—Oakland-bred and now based out of Las Vegas—traveled to Melbourne to defend his crown four months after fully unifying the lightweight division in the same city, soundly outpointing Sydney’s Kambosos (20-2, 10KOs) over twelve rounds in their October 15 ESPN-televised main event at Rod Laver Arena.

Prior to the fight, talks swirled of Haney (29-0, 15KOs) possibly next facing former three-division titlist Vasiliy Lomachenko, who first meets Jamaine Ortiz atop an October 29 ESPN+ show from Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Along with Lomachenko (16-2, 11KOs) came the mention of former two-division champ Shakur Stevenson (19-0, 9KOs) who is now competing at lightweight, along with knockout artist and box-office blockbuster Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis (27-0, 25KOs) who holds a secondary WBA lightweight title.

“We’re taking on all comers,” Haney promised after posting a repeat win over Kambosos. “We want to fight the best fighters in the world. No matter who it is, we want to fight the best fighters in the world.

“I believe I’m the best fighter in the world. Whoever it is, bring them on.”

Haney plans to be ringside for Lomachenko-Ortiz later this month. A fight with the Ukrainian southpaw has been on Haney’s radar dating back to his winning the interim WBC lightweight title while Lomachenko held the WBA, WBC and WBO belts.

The title consolidation bout never materialized. Lomachenko exchanged his physical WBC belt for the sanctioning body’s ‘Franchise’ designation, elevating Haney to full title status. Six title defenses have followed, including his second straight victory over Kambosos.

“A fight with Lomachenko definitely excites me,” Haney previously told BoxingScene.com of such a showdown. “We’ll just have to see what’s next.”
