Highly regarded, recently crowned European light heavyweight champion Eduard Gutknecht (22-1, 9 KOs) can soon be back to the ring. Gutknecht, who crushed down Danny McIntosh to get the blue belt in May and defended it once against Lorenzo Di Giacomo from Italy in July, told Allboxing’s Inna Lagun that his next fight could land either on October 1 or on October 22.

Chances are high that Gutknecht’s next opponent will be former world title challenger and EBU mandatory Vyacheslav Uzelkov (24-1, 15 KOs) from Ukraine. Both fighters are ranked in Top-15 by all four major sanctioning bodies. Gutknecht is WBO #3, WBC #7, WBA #9 and IBF #13, while the Ukrainian is ranked #6 be the WBA, #12 by the WBO, #13 by the WBC and #14 by the IBF.

“I’m sitting high in ranks, so I want to prove it by rewarding my fans with some thrilling fights”, told Gutknecht. “I’m ready to fight anyone and even [Bernard] Hopkins, even though he is an unreachable star for me now. I’ll be very glad if a final agreement with team Uzelkov is reached
