The latest installment of the 'LA Fight Club' from the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles is headlined by a crossroads junior middleweight contest between Antonio Gutierrez and Jorge Melendez. This fight will be televised by EstrellaTV and streamed on RingTVLive.com tonight.

"Mexico versus Puerto Rico, Mexican Independence month, what a way to start,"stated Robert Diaz, the head matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions.

"We have the main dish on September 17th (when Saul Alvarez faces Liam Smith) but this could be a very good appetizer, a very good start to it. Antonio Gutierrez showed prior to the Gabe Rosado fight that he's a tough Mexican kid but nothing spectacular but come the Rosado fight in June the kid rose to the occasion and defied odds and gained a lot of respect from the fans I think a lot of them want to see him again."

On June 4th at the StubHub Center, the 22-year old from Tijuana, floored Rosado in the fourth but was on the short end of an unpopular decision that saw Rosado get his hands raised in victory after ten rounds.

Melendez, who's coming off a second round stoppage at the hands of Steven Martinez in December, comes in having dropped three of his last four fights.

"Melendez knows this could be his last shot. he's coming off a loss with Martinez, who showed the other day( against Terrell Gausha) he has tremendous potential but I think it's a sink or swim fight for both guys,"stated Diaz, who has scheduled this match-up as a ten round affair.

"They both want to get the win and I think it'll bring out sparks in both of them. It's Mexico versus Puerto Rico, again."

Also on this card are prospects Edgar Valerio, Lamont Roach Jr. and Christian 'Chimpa' Gonzalez.
