Guido Vianello had a much easier go of things than in his previous outing.

A one-sided heavyweight affair saw Vianello manhandle Marlon Williams, scoring three knockdowns en route to a delayed second round technical knockout Saturday evening at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

Williams (6-2, 3KOs) was dropped three times in the opening round and still in bad enough shape for referee Michael Ortega to stop the contest at 0:01 of round two.

The bout was a far cry from Vianello’s last outing, which also took place in Las Vegas. The 2016 Olympian from Rome, Italy was given all that he could handle in a six-round majority decision draw versus Kingsley Ibeh last October 3 at MGM Grand Conference Center. The 27-year-old Vianello was due to return last weekend, instead placed on the undercard of Saturday’s lightweight bout between former three-division titlist Vasiliy Lomachenko (14-2,10KOs) and Japan’s Masayoshi Nakatani (19-1, 13KOs).

Vianello did his part to prime the card in the third bout of the night, taking an aggressive approach versus the reluctant and overmatched Williams. The first sign of an early night came midway through the opening round, when Vianello landed a right hand to produce the bout’s first knockdown. Williams beat the count but was sent to the canvas late in the round courtesy of a right hand to the body.

A third knockdown just before the bell left the referee tempted to stop the mismatch, instead choosing to give Williams the chance to recover in between rounds. Ortega did not like what he saw from the Warren, Ohio product, at which point he stopped the contest immediately after the bell sounded to begin round two.

Vianello improves to 8-0-1 (8KOs). All eight pro wins have come by knockout, though Saturday’s verdict serving as his first in more than a year dating back to his first-round stoppage of Don Haynesworth last June 9 at the MGM Bubble on the undercard of the first show since the pandemic.
