The World Boxing Association (WBA) championships committee has ordered a mandatory bout between cruiserweight 'super' champion Arsen Goulamirian and Aleksey Egorov.

Frenchman Goulamirian won the title on May 31st, 2019, so the deadline to face Egorov of Russia has lapsed.

WBA rule C.13-fight limitations indicate that the champion may not fight a boxer who is not the official challenger within sixty (60) days of the expiration of the mandatory defense period.

Based on the regulations, the WBA Committee gave a 30-day period for negotiations, which will start this February 11, 2021 and end on March 13 (- 5 GTM).

In the event that no agreement is reached or any of the parties express and unwillingness to negotiate, the Championships Committee may call a purse bid.

The WBA had made various changes in the cruiserweight landscape, in order to bring activity to the division. Both in the case of stripping Beibut Shumenov and other interpretations of the rules, have allowed the sanctioning body to order Goulamirian and Egorov to face each other.

Egorov (11-0, 7 KOs) was in the ring back in March of 2020, when he won a ten round decision over Vasil Ducar.

Goulamirian (26-0, 18 KOs) saw action last in December of 2019, when he blasted out undefeated Constantin Bejenaru in nine rounds.
