The book is still out on welterweight Javier Molina of Norwalk, Calif. But the 2008 U.S. Olympian will get a huge test Jan. 24 when he takes on former junior welterweight champion Kendall Holt in the 10-round main event at Little Creek Casino Resort in Shelton, Wash. (on ESPN2).

“He gets a win here and that pushes him close to the elite class,” said promoter Dan Goossen, who promotes Molina as well as his twin brother and 2012 Mexican Olympian, Oscar Molina. “Kendall Holt, his last fight against Lamont Peterson was a very competitive fight. With a good victory here, Javier shows he belongs.”

Molina, 24, is 14-1 with six knockouts. Holt, 32, is 28-6 with 16 knockouts. Holt challenged Peterson for his world title in February in Washington D.C. and was stopped in the eighth round.
