MORE RESULTS TO COME...

San Juan, Puerto Rico-- In what was turning out to be a bruising lightweight encounter, Jose Gonzalez (24-1, 19KOs) won by way of a sixth round TKO when the doctor stopped the contest. Marvin Quintero (26-6, 22KOs) sprained his ankle in fifth and continued to fight on one leg. But eventually the doctor stopped the action due to the injury.
McWilliams Arroyo returned to the ring for the first time since hsi narrow points loss to Amnat Ruenroeng, scoring a 3rd round knockout of late sub Victor Ruiz.

The tempo of the fight was established from the opening bell, with Arroyo fighting like a contender determined to make his way back to the title picture. Ruiz - who accepted the fight on barely two weeks notice - was rocked and dropped in round one, before being decked hard from a sweeping right hook in round three.

An ensuing volley forced the end of the fight at 1:32 of round three.

Arroyo moves to 16-2 (14KOs) with the win, his first in nearly a year. The 2008 Puerto Rico Olympian - who served on the team along with twin brother, unbeaten junior bantamweight contender McJoe Arroyo - has scored knockouts in each of his past five wins, a streak interrupted only by his split decision loss to Ruenroeng in their flyweight title fight last fall in Thailand.

John Karl Sosa (13-0, 7KOs) scored an eight-round decision versus overmatched Joaquin Chavez (9-14-3, 2KOs). Sosa was in control for the entire affair, though to a fault as the 22-year old from Caguas opted to coast down the stretch rather than take risks and send the fans home happy.

While fights were going down in his home borough of Brooklyn, unbeaten Zachary Ochoa embraced his Boricua roots in surfacing on this undercard. The 22-year old prospect cruised to an eight-round decision over Arecibo's Moises Rios (5-3, 4KOs).

Red-hot - or more specifically "Blue Chip" - prospect Ryan Martin looked sharp in stopping Mikito Soto in four rounds. The Chattanooga, Tenn. native - now living in and fighting out Cleveland - scored two knockdowns before forcing the stoppage in round four.

The performance wasn't without its share of drama, though. Soto stretched the rules, attempting to rough up Martin and get inside his head. The tactic didn't work in that regard, but was physical enough to where the undefeated prospect - now 12-0 (7KOs) - suffered a minor cut which will require three stitches.

A determination will be made in the next few days as to whether or not Martin medically cleared to fight on the May 9 card in Houston topped by Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs. James Kirkland.
