“I took time off after my first title fight, but now I’m eager to get back on a winning track with an exciting performance for the boxing fans in Las Vegas on this huge fight weekend,” Gomez says. “I’m also happy to be appearing on TV Azteca in front of the Latin audience that has been so supportive of me.”

Of his opponent, known as “The Butcher,” Gomez says, “We’re both known as pressure fighters who throw lots of punches, but I can also box and counterpunch, so he has the perfect style to showcase my skills.”

Gomez is fully recovered from the health issues and broken hand which plagued him before the Cotto fight, and has been training hard for the past several months.

Says a confident and determined Gomez, “My goal is to stop Buendia and make a statement to the boxing world that I am back.”
