Last Saturday evening at the Dima Sports Center in Hamburg, Universum's heavyweight Juan Carlos "Black Panther" Gomez (49-3-0, 37KOs) dropped an upset ten round decision to "Ding-A-Ling Man" Darnell Wilson (24-12-3, 20KOs). It's now been revealed that Gomez entered the fight with a pre-existing injury, a torn tendon in his left shoulder. Gomez will undergo immediate surgery.

The attending physician Dr. Andrew Werner said - "After careful diagnosis, there is no doubt that the injury is already more than three weeks old. The torn tendon in the left shoulder area has become so acute that the injury in any case short-term operation

needs to be addressed. Mr. Gomez must been in very severe pain."

Gomez - "I wanted to fight, despite the severe pain. That was for my fans who believed in me for years. I had severe pain during the fight, but I knew that everybody was watching me."

Universum CEO Kluch fired Gomez's trainer Leonid W. Kiselev.

"It is totally unacceptable that a coach noted nothing. Such behavior is irresponsible, unprofessional and in no way will this be tolerated. We are no longer going to work with him in the future."
