According to promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs) is looking to return on a date in September.

Golovkin wants to fight four times in 2015. He made his 2015 debut in February, when he stopped Martin Murray in eleven rounds of action in Monte Carlo. And then returned last night in Los Angeles to stop Willie Monroe in six rounds.

September is the next stop and then possibly one more fight before the close of the year, but it all depends on which fight is going to come about in September.

Golovkin is the mandatory challenger to WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto, who defends his title against Daniel Geale on June 6th.

"Gennady wants to fight four times a year, so we have to see what happens with Cotto and Geale on June 6th, but you can't really wait for people, you can't force people to get in the ring like you saw with Chavez last year. If he was waiting for Chavez he'd still be waiting and not fighting," Loeffler said.

"He wants to stay active. It loooks like a September date is most likely for his bext fight. We'll see what happens after that, but obviously it depends on what happens with Cotto and Geale and we'll what happens after that."
