The World Boxing Association has ruled that the WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (27-0, 24KOs) will have to face the interim-champion Martin Murray (25-1-1, 11KOs) if both fighters are victorious in their upcoming fights. Golovkin will defend his WBA/IBO titles against Curtis Stevens (25-3, 18KOs) on November 2nd at The Theater in New York's Madison Square Garden, while Murray will travel to Australia to face Garth Wood (12-3-1, 8KOs) on December 11th at the Entertainment Centre in Sydney.
