Abel Sanchez, trainer for IBF, WBC, WBA, IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs), has fired back at IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) and his trainer Dominic Ingle.

Last September at the O2 Arena in London, Brook moved up by two weight divisions to challenge Golovkin for his middleweight titles.

Brook started well and had some big moments in the early going, but eventually Golovkin's edge in power and size was too much. Brook suffered a fractured orbital bone and was taking punishment when his corner threw in the towel in the fifth round.

Last Saturday night at New York's Madison Square Garden, Golovkin returned for the first time since the contest with Brook, and won a very competitive fight with Daniel Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs).

Unlike Golovkin's last 23 fights, this contest went the distance and he saw the end of the twelfth round for the first time in his career. The scores were close, with the judges handing down tallies of 115-112, 115-112 and 114-113.

The fight was tougher than most had expected and it was very competitive. Jacobs was down in the fourth round, but regrouped very quickly.

For the last few days, Brook and Ingle have claimed that Golovkin had "the stuffing" knocked out of him last September, and his performance against Jacobs was lacking as a direct result of the punches he took from Brook.

Brook and Ingle also claimed that Golovkin was lucky the fight was stopped, because they believe GGG was already physically winded and would have been very vulnerable in the second half of the fight.

Sanchez rolled up his sleeves and hit back at Brook and Ingle.

"The fight is over, he got stopped in the fifth. I didn't stop it. Gennady was beating on him. The referee didn't stop it. His corner stopped it, so what are they talking about? They are the ones who gave up," Sanchez told BaylorIC Worldwide-TV.

"They should have let that fight continue so that Kell Brook wouldn't be fighting today, because he would be an injured man. It would have been impossible for him [to fight right now] with the injuries sustained and the eye would have probably sustained a lot more damage and we wouldn't be talking about Brook and Errol Spence right now."

"My comment would be, it's very easy to talk once you got the stuffing knocked out of you. The fight was stopped because he would have been seriously hurt. The fight was stopped not because Golovkin was hurt, but because Kell was hurt and taking a beating. The fight was stopped by his corner. It's like I said, it's very easy to talk now when we are so far removed from the fight. The fact is, he's got an L on his record and it was from Golovkin."
