While Gennady 'GGG' Golokvin (35-0, 32KOs) and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs) have fights scheduled in the upcoming weekends, the main focus of many fight fans is the possibility of the two meeting in the near future.

In light of Alvarez vacating the WBC middleweight title, it was announced that the plan was for this fight take place next September but in recent weeks Golovkin - who faces Kell Brook this weekend at the O2 Arena in London - and his team have been raising doubts whether this will come to fruition.

So does Golden Boy Promotions, who handle Canelo, still have designs on negotiating this match-up with Golovkin's promoter, K2 Promotions?

"Look, Golovkin did an interview in the LA Times and he said we we're going to make a 'bullsh*t offer' or like $2 million or something like that. I can tell you this much - the offer is going to be more than that and we'll see who's the clown, whether they accept it or not," said Eric Gomez, the Senior Vice President of Golden Boy, to BoxingScene.com on Tuesday afternoon.

An Alvarez-Golovkin fight is considered by many observers as the biggest that can currently be made in the sport.

Gomez made it clear to BoxingScene -  "Canelo wants the fight and we're going to make a very good offer - it'll be more than $2 million and we'll see whether they take it or not. But we want to make the fight, Canelo wants the fight for September of next year. We've been in discussions with the Golovkin side. So we'll see what happens but we're going to make a real good faith effort to try to make the fight.

"It'll be an offer that's the most money he's ever made, I'll tell you that."
