From the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California, a bout pitting two undefeated featherweight prospects, Edgar Valerio (13-0, 8 KO's) and Manuel Robles Jr. (15-0, 7 KO's) takes place this Thursday on the latest edition of 'Golden Boy on ESPN'.

"It's a fight that I've thought about for awhile," said Robert Diaz, the head matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions. "You've got two young, L.A known fighters for ESPN, two undefeated kids. But sometimes you can't do it because one one side the management or trainer or somebody says,'no, no, no' but in this case I want to thank both guys.

"It was very easy to make and it speaks wonders. That's what makes the fights that I like to provide, that Golden Boy wants to do."

In many instances the brain trust of upcoming boxers are hesitant - or downright reluctant - to match their fighters versus other prospects.

At stake in this bout is the vacant NABF featherweight title.

''Whoever does win goes onto bigger and better things and the other one basically works on a few things and gets back in there. But they're both young enough to be able to take it to the next level," Diaz stated.

Valerio is a 23-year-old native of Nezahualcóyotl, Mexico is ready to be considered a contender, but only if he can get past his Golden Boy Promotions stablemate.

Robles III is a 23-year-old native of Southern California who has steadily built his resume since making his professional debut in 2012. Robles III made his headlining debut in Sept. 2017 when he defeated Jose Estrella in an LA FIGHT CLUB event, and he'll be one victory away from contender status if triumphant on June 14.

The main event on this broadcast is a lightweight bout between Mercito Gesta and Roberto Manzanarez.
