Glen Johnson (54-19-2, 37 KOs) has all the motivation he needs to beat Erik Skoglund (21-0, 11 KOs) on December 13 at the Albertslund MusikTeatret in Copenhagen. The legendary Jamaican boxer knows that victory over the rising Swedish star will put him back on the path to world glory.

“Erik is a strong opponent,’’ said Johnson. ‘’He is a very good boxer with great potential, but I’ve not travelled all the way to Denmark to lose!

“As a young boxer you want to achieve something and you want to measure yourself against the best. Erik will be motivated to prove he belongs on the world stage, but I’ll be even more motivated to show the world that I’m still able to get the job done. I still have a lot more to offer.’’

Johnson, a former IBF World Light Heavyweight Champion, has shared the ring with many of the biggest names in modern boxing including Bernard Hopkins, Carl Froch and Roy Jones Jr. At 45 years old, the ‘Road Warrior’ is not yet ready to give up on his dream of reclaiming a world title.

“I take care of myself. I treat my body well,’’ said Johnson.  ‘’Age is just a number. I still have the motivation to carry on. I feel great, and as long as I feel this way I will continue. I can’t say for how long, but I’m not fighting just to fight. My goal is to become world champion again.”

Johnson can move a step closer to that goal by beating Skoglund on Saturday night in Copenhagen. Tickets for the Nordic Fight Night are available via billetnet.dk.
