Ukrainian heavyweight Vyacheslav Glazkov is still recovered from injuries due to a second operation which took place in the fall, according to his promoter Kathy Duva of Main Events.

Last year, Glazkov was the mandatory challenger to the IBF heavyweight title and was scheduled to face the winner of Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tyson Fury.

In a big upset, Fury won a twelve round decision over Klitschko and picked up the IBF, IBO, WBO, WBA titles. He was ordered to make a mandatory defense against Glazkov, but Fury was unable to meet that obligation because he was contractually bound to have an immediate rematch with Klitschko. Because of that, the IBF stripped Fury.

In January of this year at the Barclays Center in New York, Glazkov faced Charles Martin for the vacant IBF world title. In the third round, Glazkov suffered a very serious knee injury and he was unable to continue. As a result, Martin won the title by TKO. In April, Martin was knocked out for the title by Anthony Joshua - who now faces Klitschko on April 29th.

As a result of the knee injury, Glazkov had to undergo surgery that was going to likely keep him out of the ring for the remainder of the year. But even after the initial surgery, the injury was still lingering and a second procedure was required - and that collapsed any plans to have him return by the end of the year.

"Unfortunately, Glazkov needed another operation on his knee in the fall. We are still waiting, and he will tell us about his willingness to resume training. We will organize a fight for him as soon as he recovers and is ready to resume his career. But there is no pressure to hurry things along, because it's important that he fully recovers from the injury," said Duva to Elena Sobol.

32-year-old Glazkov, an Olympic bronze medal winner, has 23 fights under his belt (21 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw).
