LAS VEGAS – The building basically was empty when it happened, but Floyd Schofield scored a spectacular knockout on the Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia undercard Saturday afternoon.

The 20-year-old lightweight prospect knocked out Jesus Valentin Leon in the second round of their scheduled 10-round, 135-pound bout at T-Mobile Arena. A right hand by Schofield sent Leon to the canvas face first and immediately ended their fight.

Referee Allen Huggins stopped the action at 1:51 of the second round.

Leon eventually rolled over on his back. The Mexican veteran remained down for a couple minutes as a doctor examined him, but he was able to walk out of the ring on his own.

Schofield, of Austin Texas, improved to 14-0 and produced his 11th knockout. The 23-year-old Valentin (23-2-2, 19 KOs) suffered the second knockout defeat of his six-year professional career.

In the following fight, one of Davis’ stablemates, Lorezno Simpson, easily out-boxed Pachino Hill on his way to winning their six-round middleweight match by unanimous decision.

Simpson (13-0, 7 KOs), a southpaw from Baltimore, consistently landed straight left hands on Hill, who took Simpson’s shots well, yet couldn’t mount offense consistently enough to make their bout competitive.

The 23-year-old Simpson won by the same score, 60-54, according to judges Cory Santos and David Sutherland. Judge Lisa Giampa credited Hill for winning one round (59-55).

Hill (8-2-1, 6 KOs), of Davenport, Iowa, never appeared hurt, but he held Simpson several times during the sixth round.
