Sauerland Event matchmaker Hagen Doering confirmed reports that heavyweight Edmund Gerber (23-2, 14KOs) and light heavyweight Dustin Dirks (27-1-1, 20KOs) have retired.

Dirks was knocked out by Oleksandr Cherviak in the tenth round in April and then went to a very disappointing eight round draw with Tomas Adamek (not the popluar two division world champion) in August.

Gerber lost two of his last three outings. He dropped a ten round majority decision to aging British veteran Michael Sprott last December and then he was stopped in five rounds on September 21 in his fight with Dereck Chisora.
