George Jupp will not fight Mitchell Smith next.

The pair had been set to clash in a rematch on May 6, just under 17 months after Jupp beat Smith in Manchester.

But their non-title clash, which was scheduled to take place at the Copper Box Arena in London, exclusively live on BoxNation and BT Sport, has been scrapped.

Jupp (15-3, 4 KOs), who has won twice since being stopped inside six rounds by Miguel Berchelt in a fight for the vacant interim WBO super-featherweight world title last March in Mexico, revealed the news on his Facebook page.

“I'm not willing to take a fight I've already won out of my weight class for no title,” he wrote about the scheduled return against Smith (14-1, 8 KOs).

"We couldn't agree terms on the fight.

“I will move on with my career now and maybe one day if I move up to lightweight [or super-lightweight] the fight may happen.

Jupp vs. Smith II was set to form part of the supporting cast to Bradley Skeete’s mandatory defence of the British welterweight title against Shayne Singleton.

Ryan Walsh will defend his British featherweight title against Marco McCullough on the bill, there is a battle of the undefeated super-welterweights as Joe Pigford takes on Aarron Morgan and heavyweight hope Daniel Dubois will feature.

Elsewhere on the card, Boy Jones Jr., who lost his Southern Area super-featherweight title after being knocked out by Craig Poxton last month.

Hard-punching Ilford light-heavyweight Anthony Yarde is back and the card is completed by a whole host of undefeated prospects, including Sammy McNess, Lerrone Richards, Lucien Reid, Archie Sharp, Sanjeev Sahota, Billy Long, Ben Smith and Sunny Edwards.
