George Arias has beaten five undefeated fighters over the past six years.

That’s why the unbeaten Bronx resident didn’t hesitate to accept a fight against another one on only two weeks’ notice. Arias felt as though he couldn’t pass on a chance to square off against Alante Green in the co-feature of a “ShoBox: The New Generation” tripleheader Friday night.

Arias (17-0, 7 KOs) and Cleveland’s Green (10-0-1, 7 KOs) will box before heavyweights Bakhodir Jalolov (10-0, 10 KOs), a 2021 Olympic gold medalist, and Jack Mulowayi (11-2-1, 7 KOs) meet in the eight-round main event of a Showtime telecast scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. ET from Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.

“It’s a giant opportunity,” Arias told BoxingScene.com. “Every day in training for this fight, I was giving everything I had. I’m excited to be seen on this type of platform, excited for the opportunity and thankful to God. I’m just waiting until Friday already because there’s only so much you can anticipate until it turns into anxiety. So, I’m prepared, I’m grateful, relaxed and just ready to do it.”

Arias upset previously unbeaten Cassius Chaney in his most recent action. The 30-year-old Arias outpointed Chaney (21-1, 14 KOs), of New London, Connecticut, on two scorecards to win a 10-round split decision December 2 at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.

“My whole career, I’ve been fighting pretty tough guys because I’ve had to sort of prove myself because I didn’t have much of an amateur career,” Arias said. “Back-to-back wins against undefeated fighters would be unbelievable. To me, personally, and I don’t know about other people, but to me that would be such a statement and something that will give me so much confidence.”

Arias didn’t start an amateur career that included just nine fights until he was 20. Knocking off Chaney enhanced his confidence, which remains a work in progress because he lacks the foundation many of his contemporaries built during lengthier amateur careers.

“It boosted my confidence for, I would say, the month of December,” Arias said. “But after that, life goes on and there’s other sharks. So, I had to come back down and train again. There’s other sharks that I’ve gotta conquer.”

Arias was scheduled to fight a southpaw, the Bahamas’ Amron Sands (11-2, 9 KOs), on the non-televised portion of the undercard Friday night. He replaced Elvis Garcia as Green’s opponent on short notice because Mexico’s Garcia (12-0, 9 KOs) tested positive for a banned substance and withdrew from his fight with Green.

“I always say it, but I really will fight anybody,” Arias said. “It made me an honest man by fighting all these undefeated guys.”
