At the Arena Roberto Duran in Panama City, Panama, WBA "regular" middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (21-0, 18KOs) stopped Kassim Ouma (27-8-1, 17KOs) in the tenth round of an exciting fight.

Ouma was jabbing from the start and trying to start fast. Golovkin was tentative with his punches and looking for a big opening. Golovkin began to land hard punches near the end of the first. The pace was fast and hard in the second round. The boxers were trading a lot of punches. Ouma was able to handle the power of Golovkin and continued to battle back.

Golovkin started fighting even harder in the third, attempting to overpower Ouma, who continued to stand inside and fired back. The fourth round saw Ouma pick up the pace and started throwing more and more punches. Ouma was outworking Golovkin and making him use a lot of his energy. Golovkin was having trouble with Ouma's faster hands.

By the seventh round, Golovkin was starting to wear Ouma down a bit and landing more of his hard punches. Ouma was still throwing often. Golovkin continued to push forward and for the first time Ouma was backing away often and trying to use more defense than offense.

Ouma's face was swelling and bruised by the ninth, Golovkin was punishing him against the ropes and landed a few good uppercuts to close the round. The tenth had Golovkin continue the punishment, with the champion beating up Ouma against the ropes. He was battering him with both hands until the referee jumped in to stop the contest.
