Former champion Daniel Geale is a common opponent for middleweight beltholders Gennady "GGG" Golovkin and Miguel Cotto.

Geale challenged Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) for the WBA/IBO middleweight titles last July and was knocked out in three rounds. The Australian fighter picked up a win over Jarrod Fletcher last December and then fought Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33KOs) for the WBC middleweight crown in June. Cotto put him away in four rounds.

Depending on the circumstances, Golovkin and Cotto could potentially collide in the not too distant future.

Cotto defends his title on November 21 against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. The World Boxing Council has ordered the winner to fight Golovkin next.

If Cotto overcomes the betting favorite, Canelo, and agrees to a fight with Golovkin - Geale is picking the unified champion to get the win.

Geale, like many others in the industry, has some serious doubts about the fight coming off. The two fighters will likely have a conflict over the agreed-upon weight limit. Geale feels Golovkin is too big and too strong for Cotto.

"[Golovkin] is definitely an all-round boxer, he's an all-round puncher as well and I guess everybody is sort of looking at him as the guy to beat at the moment which is probably true," Geale told ABC.

"[Cotto] definitely does have a high skill level as well as great power as well so he does make for an interesting matchup.

"I'm not sure if that's going to happen but in my view I'd probably be tipping Golovkin for that fight because of the sheer power and size but it does make an interesting fight."
