Daniel Geale is ready for his WBC middleweight world-title fight in New York, dealing an early blow to champion Miguel Cotto. Cotto's camp demanded the much taller Geale come in at the catch weight of 154-pounds for Saturday's big money bout at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.

At Friday's weigh-in Geale stripped down to his Aboriginal print underpants, stepped on the scales and when it was announced he had come right on the mark he clenched his right fist victoriously.

His promoter Gary Shaw smiled and light-heartedly taunted members of the press who predicted Geale wouldn't make the weight.

Cotto's crafty trainer Freddie Roach, who had told the Geale camp to quit complaining because they had agreed to fight at the lower weight in return for one of Geale's biggest paydays, nodded his head when he looked at the scales.

Puerto Rican Cotto, who stands just 170cm tall, weighed 153.6-pounds.

"I have a bit of time to put weight back on me and fluid back in me," Geale said.

Geale said there will be no surprises about his fight plan for the smaller, but aggressive Cotto.

"He's a smaller fighter," Geale said.

"He knows I've got a longer reach and I'll use that to my advantage, but he will be trying to get in there, rush me and get in close as much as possible and cut me off."

With Geale overcoming the weight hurdle, the pressure is back on Cotto, who has been out of the ring for a year.

"I think Cotto has had some extremely hard fights, he's been out of the ring for some time as well but he's also a great fighter," Geale said.

"There definitely are questions marks and if I see any I'll be taking advantage of them."
