Featherweight contender Mikey Garcia recently made an appearance on The Boxing Lab, BoxingScene's official audio show, to talk to us about his November 10th fight against Jonathan Barros. The fight takes place at the Wynn Hotel and Casino and will be televised by HBO.

Garcia was originally scheduled to face WBO champion Orlando Salido who pulled out of the fight with an injured finger. Garcia admits to being frustrated that he isn't fighting for a title but knows that he has to take care of business against Barros.

"We found out Salido pulled out with an injury a week before October. I was upset at first but luckily we didn't have our sparring partners yet so I was able to get different sparring partners.

"I know I need to win this fight. I have been working for a title shot for over a year now so it was frustrating. I don't want all that work for nothing so I gotta win this fight," Garcia told The Boxing Lab.

Garcia said that he has watched some tape on Barros and said that he is ready for whatever style the Argentine presents in the ring.

"I've seen his fights with Caballero. He can be a little dirty in there. He does different things. If he tries to come at me I will be ready to outbox him. If he stays back and tries to outbox me I will be patient and stay on the outside and little by little I will wear him down," Garcia explained.

There has been talk of Garcia facing Salido in February prpvided he gets past Barros. Garcia thinks that his superior boxing ability will negate Salido's advantage in experience should the fight happen.

"I believe I am a better boxer all around. He may have more experience in the big fights and against the better fighters but he has lost almost all of those fights.  I am confident I will come out with the win in that fight," stated Garcia.
