Venezuela's Gabriel "Capitan" Maestre, a two-time Olympian with several medals in the amateur ranks, made his pro debut like a superstar -  with a two round destruction of Colombia's undefeated Jeovanis "Meke" Barraza, to capture a regional title from the World Boxing Association.

In the fight held at the Sugar Baby Rojas Coliseum in Barranquilla, Colombia, Maestre sent Barraza down twice in the second round and then, forced the referee in the ring to stop the battle.

Barraza stagnated down to 20-1 and 14 knockouts.

In his professional presentation, Venezuelan Yoel "Vigia" Finol picked up a win at 26 seconds of the fourth round over Colombian Jeyson Cervantes, whom he sent to the canvas on two occasions, the last one of them definitively, when the referee Gustavo Padilla stopped the contest.

With the loss, Cervantes dropped his record to 8-18-1 and eight knockouts.

For his part, in a fast-paced duel, Mexican Érik "Habanerito" López gave an bruising account of himself, with a fifth round stoppage of Venezuelan Gilbert González.

Lopez knocked Gonzalez down four times, the first in the second round, and although the South American was recovering, the Mexican came out with everything in the fifth episode and sent his opponent down three times to force the referee to stop the already uneven contest.
