Park Theater at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas - In a crossroads battle of middleweight contenders, Gabriel "King" Rosado (24-11, 14 KOs) battered and stopped Glen "Jersey Boy" Tapia (23-5, 15 KOs) in the sixth round. It was Tapia's fourth defeat in a row. The bout was the main event of the Thursday night edition of Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN.

Tapia came out in the first round with a stiff jab that pushed Rosado back. Both boxers were cautious early, but they were warming up very fast. Tapia was putting together very rapid combinations that were landing well on Rosado. In the final minute of the round, Rosado was walking Tapia down and appeared to shake him up in the closing second.

Rosado was fighting from a very comfortable distance and far more active at the start of the second round. Tapia was picking his spots with care and landing when he put his punches together to the head and body. Tapia was stunned again, but managed to fight his way out of trouble.

They were trading heavy punches in the first minute of the third. Tapia's nose was bleeding. Rosado was boxing fro a distance as Tapia was following him around and looking for big shots to land. Rosado took his foot off the gas in the final thirty seconds of the third, which allowed Tapia to come on. At the start of the fourth, Tapia went after Rosado with shots to the body. Rosado was able to battle back with sharp counters. Both were landing solid punches, but Rosado was landing better and harder. Some heavy swelling began to develop on Tapia's forehead.

Rosado looked very confident in the fifth, coming forward and landing some big punches on Tapia. Rosado was letting his hands go and looking for the finish as Tapia was doing his best to survive and was trying to get get away. Rosado was really starting to take over and was landing some heavy shots. Tapia was throwing a few shots, but not until the final moments of the round.

Rosado continued to pour on the punches in the sixth and sent Tapia down to the mat. Tapia made it up to his feet, but Rosado started pounding him with punches and referee Robert Byrd quickly jumped in to wave things off.
